A Snowtubing Party at Powder Ridge Mountain Park & Resort

Having a birthday in the middle of winter has always proven tough.  Nearly every year since N’s first birthday, we have had to postpone his birthday party.

Sometimes for snow. Sometimes for flu. Sometimes for both. You guys, winter birthdays aren’t easy.

Plus, outside of unpredictable weather we have exhausted so many of our indoor party options. We have had the train birthday. The campout birthday. The Ninja Turtle bowling and Dude Perfect trampoline park party.

So this year, we fully embraced the season with a snowtubing party at Powder Ridge Mountain Park & Resort in Middlefield. And you guys. Best. Day. Ever.

Here’s the low down: Powder Ridge offers birthday party packages seven days a week including an out-of-this-world Interstellar Night tubing party. The party includes 1 hr and 45 minutes of tubing followed by food and ice cream cake in the party room, which, is located next door to Ridgeside Tavern, Powder Ridge’s onsite pub.

Upon arrival, we were given a party host who was our go-to person for set up, food and beverage-related requests. She stopped in throughout the party to check on the group and grab refills of anything we needed.

Once the guests arrived, we made our way to the snow tubing park, just a few minutes from the party room. And for nearly two hours, the boys raced down the slopes at a giggle-inducing speed.

Even the grownups had ear-to-ear smiles just watching their kids surge down a snow-sprinkled trail on a cushy innertube for a dizzying descent. Pure childhood exhilaration.

While there are no age restrictions in the tubing park, participants must ride tubes alone. So even the littlest riders (in our case five year olds) can bundle up, and let gravity do its job. Sure, it's a long way down each of the 12 tubing lanes, but the kids loved taking the magic carpet ride back up to the top. Keep in mind that, like all snow sports, there are safety risks. Tubes and helmets are provided upon entry to the tubing park.

Our littlest friends loved playing in the Kid’s Snow Zone, a snow play area with mini-tubing right outside of the party room. And actually, all of the older boys wound up in the snow zone too after lunch.
